The challenge
In the rapidly evolving telecommunications landscape, Commtel identified a golden opportunity to enhance their data management capabilities by transitioning their extensive data repositories to the cloud. The challenge was to design a solution that would provide flexibility, visibility, and control over their Telguard and Optimus intercom systems.
Commtel needed a system that could eliminate the cumbersome process of downloading software and setting up modems, instead offering a streamlined, centralised management portal accessible from any web browser in the UK. This required a secure and reliable environment to ensure seamless programming and management of their intercom systems.
The solution
Enter "Cirrus" – a name as innovative as the solution itself, cleverly coined by Commtel. Geeks partnered with Commtel to bring this vision to life through our Solution Design Services. Utilising our award-winning tool, VisualSpec, we collaborated with Commtel to design a bespoke cloud-based application tailored to their unique needs.
The development journey was executed in a series of agile sprints, ensuring flexibility and adaptability at every stage. Hosted by Amazon Web Services, the Cirrus programming platform provides a secure and reliable environment, allowing users to manage their intercom systems through a centralised system management portal.
The impact
Since its launch in 2022, the cloud-based tool has significantly streamlined data management processes, leading to substantial time savings across the organisation. By enhancing data accessibility and reducing manual intervention, Cirrus has empowered Commtel's teams to focus on more challenging and impactful tasks rather than routine data handling.
The centralised system management portal has provided flexibility, visibility, and control over their intercom systems, eliminating the need for cumbersome software downloads and modem setups.
